- JSC YOUTH TRAP TEAM OVERVIEW The JSC youth team is a youth trap shooting Team whose focus is on safety, sportsmanship, and competitive trap shooting. We are part of the SCTP (Scholastic Clays Target Program) a national clay target organization and a member of the SWYTSC (Southern Wisconsin Youth Trap Shooting Conference). We will compete in a 7-week conference with a year-end shoot held. All team members are encouraged to attend invites and are expected to attend the conference year end shoot. After the conference shoot, we will focus on State and Nationals.
- We compete in different levels including Varsity (Senior to Sophomore), JV (Freshman), Intermediate Advanced (8th & 7th grade), Intermediate Entry level (6th grade) and Rookie (5th grade and under)
- SAFETY Shooting glasses and hearing protection are always required while being on the trap. We will be doing gun checks on the first night prior to any shooting. We will have coaches look over the gun to make sure there are no visible obstructions or problems. You will then get a sticker that will need to be on the gun you choose to shoot. If you switch guns mid-season, make sure the new one gets checked prior to shooting it. If you have a semi-automatic gun, you are REQUIRED to have a shell catcher on your gun or use a rubber band to prevent the shells from hiding someone. If you do not have either or, you will not be able to shoot. This includes invites. Please have a shell pouch, if you do not own one there are plenty to use at the club. You must pick up any shells that hit the ground after you’re done shooting.
IMPORTANT DATES
- February 2nd- NEW shooter Meeting at 6pm
- February 7th- Mandatory Sign-Up meeting at 9am or 10am
- February 16th- Last day to sign up at JSC between 6p-7p- no exceptions.
- February 23rd (NEW SHOOTERS) first night of practice 4pm. Please bring only your gun.
- March 2nd- ALL SHOOTERS practice (Outdoor) at 4pm or later (no later than 630pm). Please bring your gun, ammo, ear plugs, vest/shell pouches, and safety glasses.
- March 9th, All shooters practice – 4pm or later (no later than 630pm) (Let Matt know if you are shooting the week ahead for your spring break week)
- March 16th ALL shooters practice together- 4pm (no later than 630pm).
- March 23rd- 4pm (no later than 630pm) through May 11th. Weekly Conference scores start.
- These will be on Monday nights at JSC.
- Fifty targets each night
- You can shoot practice rounds AFTER your 50 round conference shoots. These MUST be done with a coach and a score sheet turned in.
- March 30th- Is the LAST day to sign up for all Invites.
- April 30th- LAST day to sign up for National in Marengo, Ohio July 11th-19th
- June 1st- Nationals Meeting at 5:30pm
Other Important Dates
- March 9th, (Monday)- Pizza order forms are due.
- March 16th, (Monday)- 73rd Annual Wisconservation Club Banquet. We are looking to have 10-15 of our team members volunteer from 5pm to approx. 9pm. You would be assisting with passing out food and passing out raffle prizes to the winners. Please use the sign-up to volunteer! The deadline to sign up is Monday March 2nd. If you sign up, please plan to be at the club for your conference shoot at 4pm so you can shoot and get to the Banquet. It is at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds: 503 N Jackson Ave in Jefferson.

- June 29th, - End of Year party- Everyone that shoots at any invites will receive all rewards and patches on this night that they earned. We welcome everyone to have some food and cake and cheer on everyone's accomplishment this season.
Invites
- Throughout the year there are invitationals. An invite is a 100-bird tournament held at different locations around the state. We will have sign up sheets once the season starts. In previous years, we participated in up to (3) invites. Invites are optional. These will be announced as they become available. There will be signup sheets at the club. There will also be e-mails sent regarding signups for invites. Please check these to make sure that your child is not accidentally included or missed. Anyone who signs up and doesn’t go will be responsible to refund the entry fees back to the team.

- May 16th- Manitowoc Tripple-Manitowoc Gun Club, 100 Trap/50 Skeet, Joe’s Clays, 100 Sporting Clays.
- May 17th- Jefferson Spring 100- Jefferson’s Sportsmen’s Club, 100 Trap
- May 23rd-Beaver Dam Invitational-Beaver Dam Conservationist in Beaver Dam, 100 trap.
- May 30th- May 31st -Conference shoot held in Waukesha-MANDATORY
- June 6th-7th Sauk Prairie- State Skeet Shoot
- June 13th-14th Warrens - State Sporting Clays Woods and Meadow
- June 19th -21st - Rome/Nekoosa Wisconsin American State Trap Shoot
- Held in Rome (not the one near Sullivan) WI at the WTA Home grounds.
- July 11th-19th - Marengo Ohio- Nationals
- Trap shooting may only be the 17th and 18th of July, BUT keep in mind we have no guarantees of getting these dates

Please keep in mind we have many shooters that participate in the invites, if there is an invite that you sign up for and don’t have a ride for the shooter, please reach out to other families someone will have room and would be happy to help out.
