About our Youth Team

The Jefferson Sportsmen’s Club Youth Trap team organized in 2012 to compete under the national Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP league) with 13 members. Our team rose to 42 the following year and continued to grow and prosper in the following years, boasting an average team roster of 85 members. There have been many award-winning accomplishments over the years, mainly instilling a love for trap shooting and good sportsmanship.

Our season generally begins in early February with a Parent/Athlete

informational meeting and registration, with practices beginning by

March 1.  Coaches are dedicated, NRA certified volunteers. Athletes compete in weekly virtual conference competitions against southeastern Wisconsin foes and culminate in a grand Conference Shootout held at the Waukesha Gun Club the first weekend in June, hosting 800+ athletes. Conference season and Shootout awards are held along with a FANtastic athlete raffle, making for a very long day!

Optional weekend invitationals are available throughout the season. June leads us into Wisconsin State competitions for Skeet, Sporting Clays and Trap, traveling across our beautiful state to some wonderful venues. Our season wraps up mid-July at the SCTP Nationals competition held at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio. An enormous facility hosting all disciplines with magnificent camping available on sight and offering plenty of nearby lodging possibilities.

Our true measure of success is personal growth and safety for every one of our competitors. Athletes challenge themselves every week and nothing is more exciting than that first perfect score!

Notable Moments:

Over the years the team has had great success, collecting a lot of bling!
